We believe God has brought you here.
Maybe you are burnt out on religion; maybe you are someone with lots of questions about Jesus who hasn’t found many answers; maybe your life is broken and you are looking for mercy; or maybe you are a serious follower of Jesus who yearns to be with other like-minded Christians. If so, Calvary is a church for you. Our name—Calvary—reminds all of us that what we need is found at the foot of Christ’s cross on Calvary’s hill. There, sinner and saint are beloved brothers and sisters. There, every answer can be found. There, we can find a family that is closer than blood—a family whose father is God. There, we are all the same; no one is better than anyone else. Our value and worth come from Jesus. If we have anything to brag about, it is that Jesus loves us.
The last several decades have seen Calvary transform from a Dutch-speaking church into a church for our region. And over the last eight years, we have been transformed again as a church community. We are convinced that our church is to join Jesus in what he is doing all around us and in us, transforming lives. When we read the New Testament, it becomes clear that the high goal of Christianity is not going to heaven when we die. John writes, “whoever says he abides in him ought to live in the same way in which Jesus lived” (1 John 2:6). The purpose of salvation is that each believer would become a little Christ, a Christian.
