“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” - John 10:27.
Christian discipleship is learning how to live like Jesus lived His life. While Calvary’s Discipleship Pathway gives a simple and concrete pathway to live the life Jesus lived, our Discipleship Circle provides us with a picture of both the content and the aim of discipleship.
If we want to live life like Jesus lived his life, we will find ourselves called to learn about, engage and mature in each pillar of the Discipleship Circle.
Be with Jesus
-
Learning to be with Jesus and grow in intimacy with him.
-
“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” Jn 17:3.
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” Jn 15:4.
-
Love like Jesus
-
Loving others with Jesus’s love is the surest sign that we are his disciples.
-
“‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’” Jn 13:34–35.
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.” Ga 5:6.
-
Go with Jesus
-
We are called to make Jesus’s mission our mission.
-
“Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age’”. Mt 28:18–20.
